Digital Twins for District Cooling (SWiM)
PhD Research, Aarhus University
District cooling keeps buildings such as hospitals and data centres running in hot, dense cities, and small faults can waste energy for a long time before anyone notices.
Result In progress since August 2026.
How It Was Built
PhD Fellow in the Software Engineering and Computing Systems section, supervised by Peter Gorm Larsen and Carl Peter Leslie Schultz. Part of SWiM, Sustainable Water-based Cooling in Megacities, a five-year project funded by the Grundfos Foundation with partners in Denmark and Singapore.
- Start each digital twin from the building model (BIM) of the installation.
- Run the twins on the Digital Twin as a Service platform.
- Keep AI support verifiable, so operators can rely on what it tells them.
